Local Initiatives Fund (2025-2026)

The Embassies of Australia, Canada, and New Zealand accredited to Argentina and Paraguay have unified their local cooperation efforts and jointly launched a call for proposals for the Local Initiatives Fund, which will include project support from the three embassies.  RACI will coordinate the call for proposals that  will be open until 13th February 2025 at 11:30 PM (local time). Organizations from Argentina and Paraguay are invited to submit proposals.

This Fund unifies the following programmes designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects. 

– Direct Aid Programme (DAP) of the Embassy of Australia in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. 

– Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) of the Embassy of Canada in Argentina and Paraguay

– Fund of the Embassy of New Zealand in Argentina and Paraguay. 

The joint fund is aimed at projects conceived and designed primarily by local partners. Projects will be selected and approved by the three embassies. 

Thematic Priorities

All projects must align with at least one of the following thematic priorities:

  • Gender equity and empowerment of women and girls.
  • Inclusive governance, focusing on promoting diversity and the rule of law.
  • Democracy.
  • Protection and promotion of human rights, including the rights of Indigenous peoples, youth, and LGBTQI+ individuals.
  • Human dignity: health, education, and nutrition.
  • Inclusive growth, understood as growth that works for everyone, prioritizing the promotion of women’s economic rights, access to decent jobs and entrepreneurship, investment in the poorest and most vulnerable, and the preservation of economic gains.
  • Environment and climate action focused on adaptation and mitigation, as well as water management.

Eligible organizations are:

  • Local non-governmental, community-based, and non-profit organizations.
  • Local educational institutions working on local projects.
  • International non-governmental organizations working on local development activities.
  • International, intergovernmental, multilateral, and regional institutions, organizations, and agencies involved in local development activities.
  • Canadian non-governmental and non-profit organizations working on local development activities.

Details of this call

The deadline to submit applications is  13th February, 2025 at 11:30 PM (local tie).

This call consists of two phases. In the first, an expression of interest must be submitted, providing summarized project data. The embassies will select a group of projects to proceed to Phase 2, where a complete and detailed project and budget presentation will be required. 

Projects must have a maximum duration of 12 months. 

The average contribution from the Local Initiatives Fund is approximately USD 25,000
